Summary The project aimed to address some of the issues faced by people furthest from the labour market and those who experience difficulties in gaining or retaining training or employment due to a lack of appropriate personal skills and behaviours. The project consolidated the work undertaken in the Peer Implementation Project-PIP in training Mentors as Peer Educators to deliver personal development skills to the target groups. It took the Peer Educator Training programme to the new countries of Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus and Italy and to new target groups in all 7 countries. It created a Peer Educator Trainers training course which was delivered to trainers in each partner country to embed sustainability and growth of the methodology.
General Objectives: The project supported the personal development not only of the target group but also of the volunteer Peer Educators. The Peer Education training aimed to increase the personal communication and relationship skills of both the Peer Educators and the target groups. It aimed to increase the social and employability skills of the target groups through the personal development exercises delivered by the trained Peer Educators.
The Training to trainers will increase the quality of training to trainers and that the trainers can deliver in their institutions, thus raise the quality of provision and assist in raising the quality of training for the target groups. The Peer Educator course is an innovative training programme developed through the PIP project which is already proving to be successful in supporting disadvantaged groups succeed in training and work placements.
This project will increase co-operation between organisations of this project and between organisations in each partner region/country as well through the trainer courses which will be delivered by each partner organisation. These will include public, private and third sector organisations. They in turn will have the expertise to train more organisations and thus the Peer Education methodology will extend exponentially through the partner countries and potentially beyond.
The innovative Peer Education training will be transferred from the UK and Portugal to the partner countries and from the partner organisations to other institutions within their regions, and, through their own European networks, to other European countries.
Partners will seek to gain accreditation for the Peer Educator training course so that the qualification can be recognised in the partner countries of Europe.

The tangible outcome is structured, accredited, Peer Educator training course translated into Bulgarian, Greek, Danish and Italian, a selection of appropriate activities and a Training Trainers course in all partner languages.
The intangible outcomes were greater understanding and valuing by peers of those with disabilities, learning disabilities, etc., the increased self confidence and self-worth of the target groups, and increased participation in transcultural citizenship activities by young people working as peer educators.
The impact was an increased capacity for Peer Education training through the training of new trainers in 7 countries, the increased opportunities for the target groups to successfully gain and retain training and employment and the potential for Pan-European accredited training programmes in Peer Support.
