Project Type Transfer of Innovation
Marketing Text We wanted to make our contribution to creating awareness in European SMEs in orientation towards values - and from these values to define success…
In our everyday lives we meet a lot of entrepreneurs who, 10 and 15 years ago, had the courage to launch their own small or medium-sized enterprises. We encounter a lot of competence, see good products and services. In such companies there is usually a lot of competence.
Many of these companies are viable, but still always involved in this “vicious circle”: no time for strategic work --> no long-term targets --> no possibilities to transfer responsibility --> dissatisfied employees --> stressful day-to-day routine --> stressed-out managers --> no time for strategy.
With our project we wanted to make our contribution to creating awareness in European SMEs in orientation towards values - and from these values to define success. As a result of globalization, the current trend towards finding ever faster and cheaper suppliers and employees hits SMEs in all European countries.
We were unable to solve “world problems” with our project, but we had hoped to win over more and more SMEs by creating island solutions and thus strengthening faith in their own power. For a start, it could only be small, regionally limited contributions. We had the vision of being able to support the internationally growing call for a return to values with our own very concrete method. Not only would this create a benefit to the employees and partners of the companies involved, but it would also strengthen the role of the economic element of SMEs.
Using the right business organization, it is possible, according to our experience, to be successful in achieving work enjoyment on a long term basis.
We succeeded in the 2 years of the project by transferring the "house model" (to be successful by fair methods), developed in Germany and adapted by the partners, to demonstrate that the concept is not only for German SMEs but generally applicable for European SMEs. During the project period was created a "European house model”.
The basic idea of the House Model – achieving
long-term success by fair means – has been adapted by project partners to suit their national contexts.
To support implementation there is a sevenpoint
programme grounded on a concept involving coaching and the use of an expert group. The result is a change in thinking on the part of managers and employees. Concrete activities for implementation are listed in an action plan.
To raise awareness of the House Model among the target group and to persuade business people to use it, a variety of methods were/are employed within the partner countries. Thus for example project partners used national conferences to inform others about ideas of fairness and value-orientation as a success factor for SMEs; they conducted workshops, and initiated projects
based on the concept model. Company examples were used to demonstrate applications of the House Model. In the teaching programmes, in the coaching and accompanying advisory support, consideration was given to business-related changes in relationships between long-term orientation, customer relations and the in-house climate.
The sustainability of project results and the necessary evolution of methods are guaranteed by the formation of the European FFF network. In it are integrated the partners of this project. The network will work in Europe through a variety of activities and new projects to ensure that more SMEs make the idea of fairness as its own in order to guarantee long term success.
Business associations and educational institutions associated with the network partners will spread as multipliers the best practice examples in their areas and attract new SMEs to use the FFF method.

Long-term successful business people of the 21st century will be those who “value themselves and others”.What is needed are specialists in dealing fairly with people. They have confidence in their own strength and respect for customers, employees and partners.
The following specific aims were pursued:
1. Equipping educational and business
associations to take on the role of disseminating this very special way of
thinking and in doing so, develop a special personal relationship with the SME managers. Strategic thinking and long-term success are supported by a culture of mutual trust within the organization.
2. Using the House Model for training SME managers, employees and apprentices to deal with people and processes on the basis of values.
3. Developing specific concepts and methods that take into account the needs of the future labour market.
Here, a double effect can be seen: by developing managers‘ skills, there will be an increase in opportunities for employees‘ personal development within the respective SMEs.
4. At the end of the project period there
will be a model which can be applied
5. In all partner countries there will be
6. There will be a European network for
disseminating the concept of fairness within the world of business.
