Paper conservators preserve important cultural heritage in Europe. Paper conservation requires technologies, some being still in development.Conservation education has made enormous progress in the recent past, but still lacks essential didactic tools to make vocational training effective and cost efficient. The development of didactic tools has been slowed within Europe by the small size of target groups. The project "Water in paper" will produce and international applicable compendium, using innovative didactic approach. In the project two recognized universities, three international networks and an experienced partner in project co-evaluation co-operate to produce a widely usable didactic platform suitable for the training of paper conservators. The partners will produce an innovative multimedia compendium for conservation specialists which will be used in graduate education, continued professional education, in workshops for training of practising conservators. It further can serve for the conservators' private self-study that will be required from professionals applying for certification.
