The project extended an existing worklife balance information package to be of value to other countries. It will do this by:
• Developing ICT-based training opportunities, concerning WLB education and practices, and
• Building on well researched good practice of using peer education methodologies to cascade information about WLB practices to small companies and their employees
Issues of work life balance (WLB) are often at the forefront of employment policies across Europe because of its benefits to companies and their employees: it facilitates organisational output and productivity and reduces employee dissatisfaction and disengagement. Despite the well recorded benefits, however, the adoption of WLB practices across Europe is patchy and often confusing, largely because of a profusion of different legal, financial and social and cultural conditions that impact on the understanding and uptake of the opportunities on offer. Novel and appropriately targeted education and training material will facilitate the uptake of WLB across Europe, contributing to the European policies relating to employment, competitiveness, and social integration.
The Eurobalance project will draw on an information package developed by two of the project partners, under the auspices of an EU EQUAL project ('ASAPH'), specifically to encourage uptake of WLB in organisations. With the other transnational partners in the consortium Eurobalance will adapt the material to the circumstances of individual countries across Europe and will use it to create an education and learning environment that will encourage more effective uptake of WLB.
A further innovation designed to ensure success is the use of peer educators ('champions') to deliver the information and mentoring to a range of small companies in partner countries using best practice methodologies. In particular to develop ICT-based training courses to facilitate WLB champions to cascade their new found knowledge to SME employers and employees.
From this innovative approach the project outputs will include the production of 4 new training courses (one per country) to train effectively 40 WLB champions (10 per country), who will cascade their knowledge and enthusiasm for WLB to 200 SMEs (50 per country), affecting positively the working and living experiences of a minimum of 1000 people (5 per company; 250 per country) across a Europe that has different legal, fiscal, linguistic and cultural approaches to the relationship between working and living.

A guide in all partner languages that gives information tips and advice on how to promote Work Life Balance.
To help train the champions and provide continuing focus the Proejct develoepd an on line eTraining and resource centre. From here people can in all languages gain information and develop their own WLB strategies.
The project also created an online forum with a view to continuing to promote WLB accross the EU.
All these tools can be access via the proejct Home Page.
From the Guide we deevloped a wiki that is a tool that allows the Guide to be developed and modified over time.
The Project also developed a WLB video for SME's - available in all languages this explaines in simple terms the benefits to SME's of adopting WLB friendly practices
