Using the Eco-Qualify E-learning system, the owners and employees of organic food shops can learn at their workplace or at home. Eco-Qualify offer an information, educational, communication and help centre. The user has the possibility to be regularly informed and get deeply involved in everyday issues of an organic food shop. In a virtual classroom the staff can cooperate with their colleagues from other shops and solve problems together. The participants can make contacts with consultants and tutors.
Target group The target groups are owner, manager and employees in the organic food retail trade in Poland, Czech Republic and Germany. With the enlargement of Eco-Qualify e-learning system similar target groups in Slovakia, Hungary, Latvia, Austria, Belgium and whole Europe will be able to participate.
Learning units, which include theoretical texts, tasks, exercises have been developed for the following topics. For the management level: SWOT Analyses of an enterprise, development of the organic food assortment, inventory and price calculations, basics of marketing. For the operational level: basics of organic agriculture, basics of organic food processing, goods knowledge – organic oil and cheese.

Area of application
The e-learning system Eco-Qualify is a opportunity to implement European qualification standards in organic food retail trade. The e-learning method helps small enterprises to increase qualification of employees and owners. They gain information via internet; such educational courses are financially acceptable, as their timing can be very effective and individual, saving travel costs and substitution. New knowledge can be immediately applied in everyday activities in the workplace, which is a great contribution to continuous development of the company. The effect of new information on work in the company can be immediately verified.
For the use and further development of Eco-Qualify some aspects are vital to observe. First, there must be technical introduction to work with a PC. A tutor must assist and be active regularly. Learning units must be clearly planned. Learning goals must be clearly formulated, so the users can verify their meaning and practical use. The number of participants should be specific, so as to create a training group with its own motivation. Actual learning results must be possible to verify individually, both in theory and in practice.
Organic Retailers Association (ORA) is a representative of European special organic retail trade. ORA has the task to develop the e-learning system Eco-Qualify and implement it in the European Union. National associations of European special organic retail trade training providers develop country-specified versions and they are responsible for the further development on national level.
The e-learning system Eco-Qualify is available as a test version in Czech, Polish and German on website and CD-ROM, in Czech and Polish also as printed documentation. ORA and some national associations are working at a full version and versions for other European countries and languages.
