There is a relatively hight percentage of people with low-level education in Poland which is usually linked with low vocational qualifications. Additional negative phenomenon is a lack of further continuous education habit among the Poles. In 2006, Poland occupied the last place in Europe with the rate of people between the ages 25-64 participating in different forms of education. As a consequence, those with low qualifications are being eliminated from the labor market which causes them to loose income which in turn makes it impossible to participate in any form of training. It creates a self propelled mechanism, harmful for everybody influenced by it and for the whole country. Actions proposed in the project break this mechanism.
[Target group] Educators involved with various vocational teaching forms, teachers, trainers and tutors.
[Objective]To improve the quality of vocational education in Poland by adapting, testing and implementing trainings programme addressed to educators teaching the use of methods and techniques motivating to act and eliminating the barriers in teaching people with lower qualifications. The programme will be based on results of research conducted in Germany and tailored to the Polish needs. It will be created with a direct link to practice and will include suggestions collected in the Polish enterprises and among Polish vocational educators.
The main objective of the project is to transfer to Poland a training programme for teachers, trainers and tutors dealing with vocational training in Poland. The programme is based on German experience in this subject. Apart from making the Polish version of the training programme in the form of teaching/ methodological recommendations and trainers guide it is assumed that 10 master educators will be trained. These will be certified to teach next teachers, trainers and tutors and train 100 teachers, trainers and tutors, who will use their knowledge to train people at lower levels of education.
The transferred programme is based on the theory of constructivism in connection with achievements of cognitive sciences. Learning is recognized as an active, social process; there is dynamic interaction between task, instructor and learner with collaboration among learners. Thanks to the achievements of cognitive sciences the teaching contents is transferred in the most effective way and in accordance with the functional rules of human brain. Polish educators (from the group of master educators), who will take part in the programme have long-term experience in vocational training and a background in pedagogy and psychology. It is assumed that during the work on the Polish version of the programme, opinions of Polish experts – theorists and practicians in vocational training, entrepreneurs, and representatives of groups, which should naturally be interested in the results of the project- that is people with lower vocational qualifications. All this done to guarantee maximal adjustment of the results of the project to Polish reality. The project also assumes the testing phase, in relation to teachers, trainers and tutors education as well as in relation to effectiveness of knowledge transfer to people at lower education level, using the methods and techniques contained in the programme.
