Practical implementations of the MITS Methodology in the domain of Mechatronics covering three topics:
1 What is "Mechatronics"?
Everybody seems to agree: "mechatronics" encompasses mechanics, electricity and electronics, and computer technology. Whether it is relevant or not, companies launch so-called mechatronic systems. Often it concerns automating tools and likewise components where the term "mechatronics" is more a marketing play then a true technological reflection of the product. For this reason we would like to review some visions of key people and companies.
+ ITM1 - Visions: After consulting this module you will be able to discuss the various visions in relation to mechatronics.
+ ITM2 - Examples: After these module you will be able to better illustrate the principle of mechatronics using a few examples.
+ ITM3 - Control loop: After reading through this module you will be able to see the mechatronic system as a closed-loop control.
2 CNC LATHES
These modules are meant to improve how CNC lathes reflect to a mechatronics system.
+ CNC1 - Main spindles for lathes: By the end of the module, you will know which spindles the conventional and CNC lathes have in common.
+ CNC2 - Kinematic chain: By the end of this module you will understand the difference between the kinematic chain on a conventional machine and the kinematic chain on a CNC lathe.
+ CNC3 - Control loop: By the end of this module, you will be able to locate the control loops of a CNC lathe.
+ CNC4 - Mechatronics: By the end of the "Mechatronics" module, you will understand why a CNC lathe fully complies to the requirements of a mechatronics system.
3 ABS SYSTEM
These modules show the functions of the parts and how the ABS system works. Later on, we explore how ABS fully complies to the requirements of a mechatronics system.
+ ABS1 - ABS and safety: By the end of this module, you will know to what extent ABS contributes to the safety of cars. This includes: What is meant by "safety" an how does ABS contribute to "active safety".
+ ABS2 - ABS principles: By the end of this module, you will have gained an insight in the principles guiding ABS. To better understand those principles, you will first learn the basic principles of the laws of friction.
+ ABS3 - ABS system: By the end of this module, you will be able to explain the hydraulic structure as well as the functioning of the ABS system and its parts.
+ ABS4 - ABS-control loop: By the end of this module, you will be able to locate the ABS system in the general flow chart of the control loop.
