Marketing Text The ‘key competences in life skills’ project, or LIFE for short, was a collaborative partnership between ten training institutions and public/private agencies drawn from six countries across Europe.
The project aimed to develop a train the trainer programme to provide subject orientated vocational teachers with the necessary skills to integrate key skills for life competences into their vocational areas. This transfer of innovation project built on the European Civil Society Platform on lifelong learning’s recommendations.
The train the trainer programme developed within this pilot initiative was aimed at the following groups
Vocational teachers and trainers
Diverse learner groups including 16-19 year olds at initial vocational level, mature students, the unemployed, employees and employers
Utilization and distribution of results
Access for disadvantaged
program or curricula
Primary Outcomes of the Project
Identified standards for integrating skills for life competences into vocational teaching across Europe
Identified training needs of non specialist teachers to meet the diverse learner needs
Developed train the trainer materials offering a variety of learning methodologies, web based materials and video clips and CD/DVDs.
Piloted the learning materials to a range of vocational staff and learners in each partner institution and evaluate the outcomes
Developed training guides to use materials in all partner languages
Gathered, collate and analyse examples of good practice
Disseminated outcomes so that products are transferable to meet the needs of other EU countries.
Investigated the long term potential for including the products in partner countries’ teacher training programmes
