Marketing Text R4E!2 had developed 15 training courses for business angels and 8 training courses for fund seeking entrepreneurs. The material had been tested in several emerging European economies with more than 600 participants. After the end of the project the training was offered in Europe through the Ready for Equity! Academy. The sessions can be tailored to the participants' level of experience and could be delivered individually or as an all embracing training package.
Summary The project had used the curricula and methodology guidelines developed under Ready for Equity! to train intermediaries and beneficiary Business Angels and entrepreneurs to act in Europe's emerging informal capital markets. RfE!2 focussed on the transfer of knowledge in the sector by facilitating capacity building and education from experienced partners to newcomers.
RfE!2 built on the success of its predecessor Ready for Equity! to strengthen the tools developed, by testing their flexibility and their adaptability to different types of intermediaries and markets. By including partners not only from business angel networks but also from chambers of commerce and other associations representing the interests of entrepreneurs, the project ultimatly increased the number of potential final beneficiaries of the products. The key objective of the project was to ultimately enable the newcomers in emerging informal investment markets to deliver the training material themselves.
The project has develop a content and methodology toolkit centred on the curriculum developed for Business Angels and entrepreneurs under RfE! (1). The main output is the Ready for Equity! Academy which, supported by a series of tool kits and a database of experts provides the training in Europe. To “train the trainers” will be an important element of the transfer of innovation. By working with mature and early stage business angel networks (BANs) across Europe, RfE!2 as well as the RfE! Academy
ensure a strong transferability potential of the outputs and the professionalization of the intermediaries providing the training. With the involvement of EBAN, the sole European trade association of the informal venture capital market, RfE!2 has ensured a great and sustainable visibility near its main target audience.
A database of Ready for Equity! trainers and experts has been set up, enabling every interested party to contact accredited training staff to provide training to an intermediary or participate in the training of final beneficiaries.
Strong and sustainable links have been established between participating partners to support the exchange of good practices in the field of training and other sectors, for the benefit of entrepreneurs looking for equity funding, investors looking to invest in young innovative companies and intermediary organisations involved in this sector.
The project facilitated the preparation of innovative start-ups to access equity funding, to ultimately increase the number of jobs created in the private sector. The training courses have proven to be both capacity building tool targeting the skills development of individuals as well as a tool to support the development of informal investment markets to support entrepreneurship and economic growth in the respective regions.
