Summary The purpose of the project is by establishing a virtual city of education: EduCityEurope to contribute to the possibilities for the employees in the companies to currently maintain and develop the necessary competencies to keep their jobs, qualify for new jobs or to create a quite new carreer. The aim of the project is to create an educational environment, based on the latest technology, with up to date advances in the professional, pedagogical and social areas. The project aim furthermore to train the teachers in acting as professional actors in a virtual teaching environment.The idea behind the project is to introduce life-long learning related to the workplace and relevant to the trainer. The project plans to ease the training demands on SMEs, by designing a flexibility and efficient training module. The training will develop the necessary competencies for employees interested in further training. The e-system portal for education will be structured as a virtual city with numerous occupational sectors. The programme will develop, test and implement educational curricula for sectors such as trade, tourism and finance. Each curriculum will have its own companies, offices and institutions. The sectors will be evaluated and placed in the virtual streets, according to the theme they fall under. The user will be able to create virtual materials and attend classrooms in the virtual city. The primary target groups are employees working in administration in a variety of sectors – trade, tourism, professional, financial and education, amongst others. All the information can be accessed through an official site on the Internet: www.educityeurope.dkBy means of an e-quality system a current evaluation will take place. According to needs the educational programmes will be translated into the languages of the partners from UK, Spain and Romania.
