Marketing Text Cold Forming is an industry where Europe has strengths in metal-mechanics sector, but to due to increasing globalisation and the use of IT applied to production, companies needs more and more qualified workforce to adapt themselves to the requirements of technological evolution and changing markets The main reason for developing this project is the need to improve the competencies of the present and future workforce of metal-mechanical industries related to the application of numerical simulation technologies in the field of cold forming.
Summary MAIATZ SIMULFORM project will consist in the transference of the results of research activities carried out in the domain of engineering and university in the project Virtual Intelligent Forging – CA supported by EU Sixth Framework Programme (IST Area -NMP-2002-188.8.131.52-3) focused in the creation of a knowledge community in forging production technologies. The results of VIF CA that will be applied and adapted to develop the main product of MAIATZ SIMULFORM: and specific training program on “Numerical 3D Simulation Technologies on Cold Forming Process”, supported by IT didactical materials. It will be oriented to: VET trainees and Workers of Metal Mechanic Branch, and Unemployed workers willing to improve their employability in this Labour Market.
VIF CA training concept activities - seminars, short courses and workshops – and its didactical contents will be adapted taking account the related competencies needed in the sector. The methodologies of Benchmark testing that have been used in VIF CA research activities, will be applied to elaborate case studies based on real cases proposed by the enterprises (+-80) that will participate in the project.
The Maiatz Consortium is integrated by 2 VET and Continuous Education centers (SP / DK)- that wil be the main receivers of the transference - 1 Engineering Education & Research Center (FR) and 1 University (IT) - that had been chief of file and partner respectively of VIF CA and will facilitate the transference –and 1 VET Innovation public entity (SP) and 1 Consultant entity (SP), that will support the didactical adaptation and the project management and evaluation.
The foreseen impact will be a better adaptation of VET and Continuous training to provide these competencies needs required by industries; an improvement of the employability of VET trainees in this sector’s labour market; the improvement of the performance of the workforce of the industries to facilitate their modernisation and elevate their competitiveness in global markets.
