Project Type Transfer of Innovation
Marketing Text A Europe-wide and shared blended and e-learning project on sustainability in dry cleaning processes.
Summary At the present time there is no comparable educational level and no transfer of knowledge between countries and/or transfer of innovation. In order to guarantee the sustainability of environmentally friendly processes in de dry cleaning sector, training modules will be developed to improve the level of knowledge of the dry cleaning staff and dry cleaning service enterprises within the European Union and acknowledging the EC directive 1999/13/EC on the emission of Perc, HC solvents and Siloxane D5.
Description At present, textile cleaning with Perc (perchlororethylene) is in Europe the most common technology. However this is a chemical that has the tendency to evaporate under ambient conditions. An EC directive was drawn up, because solvent emissions could have harmful effects on the environment. Ensuring the safe usage of Perc within the dry cleaning industry is therefore most important.
