The major target of this project "European Work Exchange 2002" is to support the international mobility of young people who are in initial vocational training.
This project is especially designed for young people who are socially disadvantaged, because they have usually less career prospects. During the placements abroad their qualifications, linguistic and cultural competences should be extended and widened. In the course of "European Work Exchange 2002", which is integrated in the international mobility network "BA-Net 2002", two groups of 12 young people, who are socially disadvantaged, have the opportunity to stay abroad for 4 weeks in September 2002 and May 2003 in Finland together with a trainer. The young people are in second and the third year of training in business and administration or in the IT-sector. In Finland they will start after a one-week English course to work in Finnish companies and organisations. There they can use and extend their acquired professional abilities. This project should not only strengthen the professional experience but also aims to widen the cultural horizon and the social competence. The following partners are taking part in this project: Chamber of Industry and Commerce Halle-Dessau, Ausbildungsring Halle-Dessau, Loimaa Professional Institute, Turku Polytechnic and Kainuu Vocational Institute.
The beneficiaries will be selected at least 3 month before the placement to have enough time for preparing their knowledge about the culture of the host country and the language. In the target country the young people will be in charge of the partner institutions. At the end of this exchange the young people, the host firms and organisations will evaluate the results of project by means of a questionnaire. The results of this project will be published on the website of the network and through an article in the Chamber magazine "Mitteldeutsche Wirtschaft"and other press releases.
