Following a thematic seminar on European Vocational Training and applied Ecology in October 2000 at the TGM, Vienna, the Polymer and Environmental Centre LKT-TGM launched a transnational network project on the subject of Life-long learning for Sustainable Regional Development (TENVORS). Covering 23 partners over 13 regions of Europe in its initial stages, the project aims to put Vocation as the link between the idea of Europe and Regional Sustainable Development.
Vocational Training accompanies the Life Long Learning process in various ways. In many cases it covers informal learning as well as formal graduation. Increasingly often the question arises as to how to monitor and regulate the numerous forms of life long learning throughout Europe. How can one ensure that “who” receives “what training”, “when”, “where”, “how” and “to what aim”? A lot of time energy and European funding has been invested in vocational training projects with the result that there are numerous \'isolated\' pockets of best practice in the environmental sector which to date are unable to benefit from each other either in terms of complementariness or in terms of market.
Based on this comprehensive focus, this transnational network aims to bring together supply and demand (problem owners and problem solvers) in a virtual market place. The offer of solutions to problems originates from a pool of successfully completed Leonardo projects. The network shall enable the synergetic marketing, valorisation and dissemination of those project results and simultaneously contribute to the developing process of the regions.
