The transition from school to work is an important step in the career of young people. In many European countries an increasing number of young people - especially with immigrant background - experience difficulties at this stage of their personal development.
The goal of the project “Go4Job” was to change the described situation. For that reason educational and training institutions from Europe collaborated in order to develop an internet based platform "Go4jJob" on occupational orientation and choice - which offers an alternative support concerning the transition from school to work for young people - based on digital information and qualification modules (IQ-Modules) and virtual communication types as podcast, blogs or wikis.
The intention of the project was to bring two groups into a fruitful interaction concerning vocational orientation and choice. One group was the target group of the project, that is, pupils leaving school and looking for occupational perspectives. The other group consists of young people who have a comparable ethnic background as the target group and who have already passed the vocational choice process successfully.
Virtual communication tools served as a link with the aim that the group with the occupationally successful young people gave advice based on their own experiences.
In addition to this fruitful digital interaction other pedagogic IT-modules have been developed, tested und implemented.
