Marketing Text With GRANTlas 2007, DANUBE facilitated 29 recent graduates of all fields of study from all participating HEI in the Vienna region and Lower Austria with the possibilty of gathering first practical experience in European organisations.
29 Graduates of all fields of study from all participating HEI in the Vienna region and Lower Austria could gather practical experience in placements in European companies and organisations for 3 to 6 months from 1st June 2007 to 31st May 2009 in the framework of the Leonardo da Vinci Lifelong Learning Programme. Within the project application, placements for 50 graduates with an average duration of 5 months in several partner countries were intended, after the project has been granted with major bugdet cuts, 29 graduates could be taken on as beneficiaries.
Innovative high quality placements in Europe are an ideal completion to the theoretical knowledge gained during studies at the institutions of higher education (HEI). Due to additional costs of stay thereby incurred, the support with grants is in most cases essential.
Young workers got the opportunity to check out their individual interests and talents at the host organisation. Through optimised integration into the host company as well as socio-cultural integration the beneficiaries of GRANTlas 2007 acquire both formal and non-formal qualifications and therefore have better opportunities on the international labour market.
Young workers being able to communicate in more than one European language, having gathered both profound theoretical knowledge and practice orientated experience have an enormous competitive advantage on the labour market. A work placement thus multiplies the opportunities on the (inter)national labour market.
GRANTlas 2007 especially supported the transfer of knowledge from university to businesses and enterprises and encouraged the flow-back of practical knowledge to institutions of higher education.
