The thesis of the project is that Diversity Management gives a new approach to learning. Background of the project is the challenge of the demographic change and migration which faces European nations and their development. According to the situation in the region of Siegen-Wittgenstein (rural, industrial society with a high "emigration" of young, good qualified people and therefore an increasing low employment rate of this group), there is an interest of key actors on the regional labour market to find approaches of integration, of promoting employability and enhance new forms of education and training specifically for older workers and/or immigrants.
Therefor the project addresses the followoing strategic priorities of the LdV-Programme: Transformation, modernisation and adaption of the European education and training systems. European training systems must make an essential contribution to the employability and actual emloyment of older workers and immigrants. Particularly the project will explore new possibilities and recognition of formal and non-formal learning for older workers and immigrants through mixed staff and team structures. With the specific focus on "diversity management" within companies it shall be analyzed how training systems and company-based training can be organised to enhance continous education and life long learning between the generations and different nationalities.
