The world of Continuing Vocational Education and Training (CVET) has changed considerably in the past few years. Changes have been fundamental concerning target groups, organisational and management strategies, methodology and political decision-making and regulation. Life Long Learning has become an integral part of career development and is replacing diploma thinking. These changes affect CVET actions as well as actors – training has become an integrated part of Life Long Learning and career development, trainers have to assume new roles and responsibilities that must be identified and defined.
Therefore, a project initiative has been taken by VDAB (Flemish Service for Employment and Vocational Training) and partnership with VIZO (the Flemish Institute for Entrepreneurship), the Department of Education, Finnish SAAKK and VTEC, Irish FAS, German IB, Portuguese ADC, the International Training Center of the ILO in Turin, and Polish Institute for Terotechnology (ITeE) was built up.
The project aims at a coherent, practical approach of identifying and developing the required competencies CVET trainers. The competence management of the CVET trainers is intended to be integrated in the existing HR systems of the staff departments of the partner organisations.
Outputs of the projects are i.a. a set of "competence units", a curricula of "competency-based" modules for trainers and tools for integrating the competence management of the CVET trainers in the existing HR systems were developed.
The dissemination concept is based on the extensive networks of all partners and different channels such as website, seminars or newsletters are used.
