Description The aim of the project is to develop a dynamic online tool for use by career orientation teachers and vocational and career guidance counsellors. The tool makes available current formal and informal ICT qualification requirements that companies demand at national and transnational level.
Target group The main goal of the dynamic online tool is to help school and career counsellors and vocational training teachers who teach career orientation to counsel 13 to 18 year olds on their choice of careers and school programmes as these young people pass from school to choosing a career and to counsel older clients. Vocational training and career counsellors and career orientation teachers have to rely on continuously updated and professionally managed profiles for qualification requirements to give their clients the best possible advice. End users also include companies in the ICT sector who can use the dynamic online tool to see how their own requirements measure up to those of their industry. They can use the requirements in the dynamic online tool as a benchmark and update their own requirements based on those in the dynamic online tool. Clients benefit from better counselling regarding vocational training and careers, especially with respect to the up-to-datedness of quality requirements and the possibility of obtaining advice on international requirements.
The dynamic online tool has primarily two functions. It offers a way to evaluate the requirements and to update new requirements in the ICT sector.
(1) To generate the occupational requirements for businesses in a dynamic way, the qualification requirements are supplemented with the results of the analysis and then integrated in an online questionnaire assigned to the various occupations in the ICT sector. Each project partner cooperates in its own country with companies that use the online questionnaire in order to rank already formulated requirements by importance
(e.g. is manual dexterity important?). To document qualifications required by specific companies, demographic data for each user is determined and saved in a database with a link to the respective logins. This feature allows requirements profiles to be generated, e.g. for specific types of companies, regions according to specific clusters of requirements. At the same time, users can determine common clusters of requirements applicable beyond a given company type, region and country.
(2) Companies also enjoy great flexibility when it comes to adding new requirements on the dynamic online tool. The coordinator can intervene to check, correct or assure quality, as needed.
Area of application
The dynamic online tool will first be developed for the ICT sector and then adapted later for other sectors.
