Summary The goal of the pilot scheme was the drawing up of a European Management Certificate (EMC) in SMEs. This certificate and the certification regulations were developed according to the staff certification. In this respect, the division of counselling, further education, and auditing has been consistently put into practice. This was a central precondition for a reputable certification. The principle of the competence profiles has been adjusted according to the skills which are to be confirmed by CEMES. In this case, the competence profiles describe the average knowledge which a manager of a SME needs in order to lead the enterprise or work in its management sector. The extent to which these competences are expected to be developed are defined and compared to the skills of an expert in the respective field. The concrete extent depends on the knowledge which is relevant to practical work and necessary for success. These profiles were matched within the 8 partner countries involved. A Summary of the detailed presentation and the achieved goals is enclosed in the attachment. The guidelines and principles connected with the certificate can be adjusted to all the countries involved. The European Management Certificate offers a certificate to the management of SMEs. The innovative solutions allow the results and methods of the project to be transferred.
