The mobility project "Qualifying" gave 3 students of the "RTA Akademie am AKH Linz" the opportunity to to their final placements in a hospital abroad. This 4 weeks placement is the last part of the practical education of our students before the get their diploma. All the lectures will be completed before the 3 girls start their placements so they should have all the necessary know-how and information to feel confident in working (even abroad). In Austria a radiographer carries out examinations on her own responsibility that a medical doctor has ordered. He or she is qualified to work in the following 3 working fields:
Diagnostic Imaging, Nuclear Medicine or Radiotherapy.
The 3 participating students have carried out the project on their own and got in touch with their hosting hospital themselves as well. They chose their placements according to their main interests and to the jobs they are interested to work in after finishing the college. One of the girls is dong her placement in a Radiotherapy in Berlin whereas the the other 2 girls chose placements in diagnostic imaging, the domaining part in their education at college.
Aim of the project is to find out the differences in the work and responsibilities of a radiographer abroad compared to their taks in Austria. Our students will be able to work in the teams on site and become integrated in the routine working day and therefore find out what's different to Austria.
The placement should not only broaden the girls know-how but also their social and language skills. The Austrian diploma for radiographers is accredited in all european countries so it would be possible for our students to work abroad after their qualification.
The students salso want to find out if the have enough know how through their training at college to be able to work abroad.
