Title 7. Evaluation system used for the certificates according to ECVET
Product Type transparency and certification
Description The certificates confirm competences, independently of how they have been acquired. The possibilities to acquire knowledge, e.g. through formal, informal and non formal learning, are thus summed up in an outcome-oriented way by these certificates. In order to make the new certificates comparable to formal education, we developed a matrix that defines the quantity of the learning times that are required for the new certificates.
Target group People who want to have their acquired competences certified and those involved in the certification process are the target group for this product.
The competences were analysed according to the required learning times and the required professional experience. This analysis shows the required learning times and the times that are necessary for the actual acquisition of a certain competence through learning by doing (professional experience). On the basis of a code, we converted the professional experience in learning time and deducted an equivalent only for formal learning. Moreover, we classified the certificates according to the current criteria and levels of the ECVET. It is interesting that the results of these 2 different approaches to the evaluation are basically congruent. The result was summed up in a matrix.

The method and the structure can be transferred to other countries and competence areas.
