The Basic sensor characteristics micro-module is oriented on the explanation of the static and dynamic sensor parameters in general as well as environmental parameters, reliability and long-term stability of sensors.

Micromodule of Basic sensor characteristics deals with static and dynamic sensor parameters, environmental influence, reliability and long-term stability of sensors. Static characteristics of the sensors represent their behavior in stable state. They are specified by function dependency between input and output parameter in time stabilized state. The dynamic characteristics are given by transfer function, frequency, impulse and step response. By environmental parameters is mean all the external variables such as temperature, pressure, humidity, and vibration that affect the performance of the transducer. It should be emphasized that a parameter is considered as an environmental parameter only if it is not the one to be sensed. Failure of sensor systems can be roughly divided into catastrophic early life failures, short-term drifts in the parameters and long-term drifts and failures. Used accelerated aging tests for evaluation of long-term reliability of sensors are high-temperature burn-in, a high-temperature storage bake, the electrical overstress test, thermal shock testing and mechanical shock test.
