New modification of non-invasive biomedical monitoring of psychosomatic processes. The proposed method is based on skin conductivity measurements by interdigitated array (IDA) of microelectrodes, which allows continual monitoring and analyzing of complicated physiological, pathophysiological and therapeutic processes. Main goal is to monitor psycho-galvanic reflex of the human skin in medical and psychological experiments.
Medical and psychological institutes
An integrated measurement system for long time monitoring of the psychoglavanic reflex for human stress detection was developed. Experimental results show that the developed microelectrode probes are able to monitor the electrodermal response as well as the blood pulse caused by the heart rhythm, simultaneously. Moreover, thesis about the influence of the potential barrier and its thickness changing due to nervous system has been proven. Interesting outcome was observed – the psychogalvanic reflex might be much more accurately sensed by the admittance phase since this parameter reflects the human skin conductivity changes very precisely. The achieved accuracy, voltage and frequency ranges are suitable not from human stress monitoring point of view but also from the system integration and miniaturization requirements. The possibility to measure also heart rhythm with one IDA microsensor might be appealing and innovative aspect for psychological and medical research.
