The main part of the Sensors classification module is to differentiate the sensors from various aspects. Namely from the production technology point of view they are as thick film, thin film, etc. Another aspect of sensor classification is based on primary sensing parameters, e.g. mechanical, magnetic flux and field, temperature and thermal, chemical etc.

Sensors classification module contains the classification and description of wide range of sensors used in various industrial sectors. Sensors classification rests in three main points of view: production technologies, type of parameter sensing and sensors application. There are three basic categories of sensors production technologies: standard thick film technologies, polymer thick film technologies and thin film technologies. Production technologies description introduce the material bases (pastes, substrates, screens etc.), material properties, as well as the technological process of sensors production. Sensors can be divided into five main categories: mechanical parameters, chemical compositions, temperature and thermal, radiation and superconducting sensors from the point of view of sensing parameters. Each of class describes the principle of sensors operation and production facilities, as well as the sensors basic parameters. Mechanical parameter sensors are assigned on pressure, strain, flow or force sensing etc. They are based on utilization of various physical effects, for example piezoresistive effect, magnetorezistive, piezoelectric etc. Chemical composition sensors are used for analyses and detection of various types of gases or material compositions occured in tested environments (pH sensors, gas sensors etc.). Special class of sensors represent temperature and thermal sensors: RTD – Resistive Temperature Detectors, NTC thermistors (Negative Temperature Coefficient), PTC thermistors (Positive Temperature Coefficient) and cryogenic temperature sensors. Class of radiation sensors includes thermal flow sensors, IR radiation sensors, photoconductive sensors and solar cells.
Last part of this module is oriented on description of superconductive sensors. SQUID – Superconductive Quantum Interference Device, is based on high temperature superconductive thick films (HTSC).
