Module describe several possible approaches to the reliability testing with accent to aging trends, accelerated aging and testing via temperature stress. Module includes an overview of the testing and measuring methods, databases establishment and Appraisal of reliability level based on the measurement results – databases.

Reliability tests are one of elements of quality system guarantee. Their importance and extend correspond with requirements level on operational reliability of a particular equipment. Trial tests also serve as a tool for verification of reliability indicators compliance in manufacturing, technological production preparation with actually reached level. In contrary to type and functional tests, where required technical parameters are verified, in marginal conditions (temperature, humidity, pressure, vibrations, falls dawn), reliability tests have another mission. Most of all, they are done in order to demonstrate the fact that whether testes equipment will be able to perform during certain time period in certain environment and in determined conditions. In contrary to other tests, standard reliability tests are greatly time consuming. They require meticulous preparation, implementation and attentive evaluation of gained results. Required correction measure can be, in case of necessity introduced with great delay. Purpose of tests is also to determine the cause of a problem – its type, mechanism of appearance, quantity, time sequence to dominant causes and consequences.
The module solves tasks connected to:
- Testing and measurement methods - are divided into two elemental groups: electronic methods – electronic measurement and appraisal of electronic parameters and non electronic methods – thermal, ultrasonic, optical and holographic diagnostic, spectroscopy, electronic spectroscopy for chemical analysis, measurement of mechanic parameters (for example: durability, strength, adhesion, viscosity), thermal analysis, etc.
- Tests execution and establishment of information databases which provides all information necessary for analyses of characteristics of tested elements (modules, components, materials, etc.) and for stability and reliability parameters calculation, in accordance to probability theory and mathematic module of reliability criteria.
- Appraisal of reliability level based on great number of data which allow, determine of reliability and stability levels. Those data allow establishing well arranged charts and graphic courses, after their systematic classification to databases structures and after basic statistic processing, for direct appraisal of reliability level of monitored structures.
