Sustainable Development is not country dependent and has to be a concentrated and cumulative direction coming from profit oriented companies/institutions, regardless of the company's, institution's, or even non for profit organization's types of activities; all organizations have to act in a sustainable manner so as to preserve the environment and to act in a socially responsible way, above economical orientation.
In recent years, global issues surrounding energy security, unstable fuel prices and greenhouse gas emissions, as well as sustainable procurement, the purchase of raw materials from sustainable sources, ethical trade and corporate social responsibility (CSR), has led to organizations increasingly making the commitment to move towards a more sustainable, low carbon, energy efficient model.
The project and the related training established within the project framework supported organizational leaders to understand the strategic implications of sustainability and developing innovative and creative approaches. The Life cycle thinking and the new sustainable world trend require understanding of sustainability concepts and capacity increasing in the operational field of actions.
Thus the LeadSUS project brought a lot of insight related to Sustainability topics, created a new job role within EU market the `Sustainability Manager` qualification, certified EU wide within ECQA framework.
