Title European Mobility for Young Professionals
Project Number 2013-1-DE2-LEO02-16513
Project Type Mobility - people in the labour market PLM
Individual Participation Possible until: 31.01.2015
Marketing Text For graduates of an apprenticeship or a university a direct entry into the labor market is often difficult. Moreover, the impending shortage of skilled workers in Germany due to demographic change requires a higher qualification of young professionals. This should be counteracted by giving participants the opportunity to participate in a language course followed by practical training abroad and so to enhance their professional, personal and linguistic skills directly or shortly after the completion of their training.
Summary The main objective of the project was to facilitate the career entry for graduates of various educational institutions both in Germany and in other European countries. Quite often there is a gap following a training or further education, in which it is necessary to gain practical experience and to apply the theoretical knowledge gained during training. Therefore, the participants should be given this opportunity through a language course and internship abroad which met their individual needs. Moreover, they should be given the possiblity to develop their language and personal skills. The target group was rather heterogeneous so that the candidates and participants had very different conditions and learning objectives. A targeted and thorough selection of participants before the mobility was very important: The preferred placement sector and the participants' motivation and personal goals of stay were assessed and taken into account for the placement. A total of 40 participants were sent to Britain and Italy. The project objectives were fully achieved since all the participants noted an increase in professional, linguistic or social skills, in many cases even in all three areas. This development is of particular importance for their job search in Germany since the participants are now more aware of their own competences. Some participants also stayed in the target country after the mobility as they were offered a position after the internship. Thus, also the second objective, the promotion of European mobility by taking up work in another EU country was fulfilled.
