Intercultural competence is getting more and more important. The world of work has become
international, transnational acting common. The result is the need for employees who are capable to act and communicate beyond borders.
Our school feels responsible to teach the students intercultural competence. Therefore we offer a wide range of proposals focusing on Europe and the European world of work.
We are happy to cooperate with partners all over Europe.
During the project, trainees in administrative professions who attend an additional course in European Management had the opportunity to carry out a three-week internship in Hungary.
In cooperation with the Hungarian partner the project was realized in two phases: Hungarian trainees carried out internships in Germany (Peine), then German trainees carried out internships in Hungary (Szombathely).
Intention of the project was to enhance the trainees' professional skills, language skills and intercultural competence to qualify them for both, the Germany and the European labour market.
The trainees enhanced their professional skills by carrying out an internship in a company abroad. The field of activity was closely related to their training and the additional European Management course.
They received the europass mobility to certify their employment abroad.
Language skills were enhanced by actively using their already acquired skills in the English language in an authentic environment outside the classroom. The trainees were supported in overcoming their timidity to use the language and to exercise using it.
The employment in the training companies not only enhanced professional skills but also the intercultual compentence. The trainees got to know the Hungarian culture in both every-day and professional situations. This experience outreached those of a mere tourist who encounters simply for example the ways of greeting, clothing or eating habits.
