The quality of Human Capital is crucial for Europe’s success. The Europe 2020 Strategy puts a strong emphasis on education and training to promote “smart, sustainable and inclusive growth”.
VET trainers/teachers has become knowledge mediators and brokers (instead of knowledge transfers) that must be able to encourage new “knowledge surfers” in information society and green economy as well as promote the balance of different individual needs and talents, under an inclusive and empowerment context.
The BOND project is about the improvement of VET teachers/teachers quality, the application innovative practices, methodologies and tools. An improvement of trainers/teachers will strongly impact on the VET systems quality and attractiveness. In this sense the Pedagogical Training for Trainers Methodology (PTTM) is understood as main tool for preparing teachers/trainers to be aware of 8 key competencies and lifelong learning attitudes among adult learners.
According to the European Commission (Supporting the Teaching Professions for Better Learning Outcomes, 20.11.2012), the role of teachers and trainers is crucial in the modernization of VET with special focus on their professional development and status in society. The future dominated by change presents news challenges for both teachers and trainers in VET, involving new pedagogical, curriculum design, quality assurance, management and administrative tasks. At the verge of the 21st century, a new trainer is born: able to use user-friendly andragogical methodologies as well as be able to mediate “knowledge zapping” and “knowledge surfing” very applied to new jobs, new market needs and new European citizens (with all 8 key skills) and continuous qualification for lifelong learning. Based on it, was designed the XXI Trainer project.
The BOND project consortium includes 7 VET partners: 2 from different Spain regions (Cataluña and Castilla y León), Portugal, Hungary, Austria, Ireland and Turkey. All partners have specific expertise in key project areas, access to VET trainers and teachers and contacts with national and European VET networks, all of whom have expressed interest in following and helping to dissemination of the project.
Among project's aims, the BOND partnership look for the transfer the Pedagogical Training for Trainers Methodology to VET teachers/trainers and other VET providers that want to acquire pedagogical and andragogical skills and competences
The project creates the BOND toolboxes from PTTM by selecting, adapting, and translating the materials according to each country's reality and its specificity.
The project will also develop the EQF and ECVET BOND trainer profile based on European recommendations, by specifying them as concrete and tangible learning outcomes.

BOND project will facilitate the development of innovative practices in the field of VET by:
(a) National need analysis on pedagogical competences and skills gaps
(b) Selecting, adapting and translating PT PTTM contents to target group needs
(c) Creating BOND toolboxes according country’ reality and specificities;
(d) Testing BOND toolboxes
(f) Developing an European profiles for VET BOND trainer based on EQF and ECVET
