The project will develop an e-learning platform and provide learning and training opportunities for the most vulnerable in the labour market, particularly youth and older, low-skilled. So, courses developed in this Project will improve the vocational skills and competencies of new and existing workers to increase their chances of employment in the chemical sector. It can also increase the opportunity by helping low skilled current and potential employees to use ICT in a more advanced fashion, which an essential tool in current and future life.
Our Project will also increase industry’s engagement with the VET sector to ensure training outcomes are high quality and relevant to the needs of employers to improve skills utilisation and workforce development; and their role that spans high level training and workforce development for industries and improved skill and job outcomes for the disadvantaged.
Today European chemical industry employs more than 1,2 million peoples. Hundred thousands of unschooled or low educated people are recruited to work in these companies without education or background in chemical industry. There is a increasing interest in chemical products, and different innovations in the field of equipment and tooling, products and applications are more and more demanding for the companies and their staff. Employees on workers level in chemical companies in Turkey, Poland and Lithuania are low educated. Workers, such as production workers, machine operators and line responsible, need to be trained to bring their knowledge and skill on a necessary level. However, chemical industry is a relatively young industry, mainly SMEs and they are in difficulty to find the financial resources needed to offer training to their staff.
Aim of this project is to develop vocational training courses to educate the workforce of chemical industry about the latest improvements and advanced manufacturing and processing techniques/technologies at the work place using open and distance learning and training methods, particularly to facilitate the access to continuos vocational training.
Our consortium comprised of an exporters association and plastic industry representative in Turkey, a consultancy company in Poland, IT company which was the coordinator of previous project in Spain, a chamber of commerce and industry in Lithuania.
The project will develop E-learning modules using multi media and blended learning. It will be accessible online, for VET organizations, and SMEs, existing and new workers and young workers throughout the European Union.
In addition to the measurable results, it is important that partners will have cooperated, learned from each others expertise, systems and methodologies and also what means to collaborate at European level.
