Developing Skills of Young Disabled People
Summary The gap between school and work has been identified as one of the key problems for young disabled persons affecting the possibility of gaining access to jobs and keeping them. Thus, in a growing number of European Member States, counselling services are offered to disabled school leavers to signpost them to the most appropriate employment, apprenticeship or training measure.
With this project we want to support for disabled young people educationally and psychologically in transition to qualify them to find better jobs easily after their school life and fit in business life. The supports service offers training and counseling for young people with disabilities and disadvantages at the finding a job, and the transition to adult life.
The main objectives of this project is to support young disabled people to qualify them and to develop and disseminate a curriculum for the training of transition trainers which is based on the specific needs of the target groups
In all EU countries disabled youngsters are underrepresented in the working population. Many services offer training and advice to disabled youngsters, some from LdV projects which will be included, but none that create working links between employers and public sector workers to support the employment of disabled youngsters. And we want to make them ready for business life with this Project.
The project aims
- Promotion of the acquisition of key competencies in VET with special reference to the disabled youngsters.
- to develop innovative practices into the VET by developing skills of disabled and disadvantaged people.
-to develop skills for increase the number of disabled youngsters able to work in suitable employment
-to transfer innovative training courses in skills for the employment of disabled youngsters,
-To reach them face to face, in distance learning programme, special education and rehabilitation centre, job school for -disabled youngsters, municipality social service for people with disability, government offices and employers’ premises.
-to learn from each other by comparing strategies and models
-to raise awareness for the importance of the transition period which is crucial for the employability of young people with a disability
-to develop and improve methods to increase skills of young people with disabilities
-to give hope to youngsters vocational prospects
-to do surveys on young disabled people about capabilities of young people in which direction
-to do surveys with teachers, counsellors, psychologists on how can we improve these young disabled people’s skills
-to organize trainings for development of young disabled people's skills
