In the E-DECO project 10 teachers from 5 EU countries will be trained to use coaching methods and e-tools to stimulate entrepreneurial attitudes and activity.
While whole Europe is facing serious economical crisis, entrepreneurial spirit and business awareness are needed among the VET-students. VET-teachers are key drivers to feed and encourage the spirit and guide the action of potential start-ups of their students. Personal coaching approach to guide potential entrepreneurs is fundamental. The potential of information and communications technology (ICT) can be used to boost the efficiency of coaching and increase its' attractiveness through distance learning.
E-DECO how ever does not target students but teachers. In the core of the project is to develop teachers entrepreneurial mindset. The VET teachers need to update and develop their skills of coaching and e-environments equally.
E-DECO project aimed to involve oneself in the developing of the new teaching paradigm: Trialogical teaching involves the teachers, the students and the digital world. The concrete aim of the project was to promote and transfer innovative teaching methodologies and competence of VET teachers by developing their coaching and e-coaching skills in the context of entrepreneurship and business. This project did transfer new innovative teaching methodologies of two LLP-projects: Entre-Coach and BeSTrain. Results could be described as e-Entre-Coach method.
There was 5 core partner organisations from 5 countries (FI, ES, UK, LI and NL) involved in the project. Most of the partners have succesfully worked together in LLP projects before and they did it this time, too.
The leading partner Haaga-Helia is a business school that provides bachelor and maser level training but also VET-teachers training, and as such has the experience to develop VET teachers competences in coaching, e-environments and entrepreneurship and strong link to VET education.
Key target groups of the project were the VET-teachers and trainers of participant countries. During the project there was all together 64 VET-teachers trained. Secondary target group were the students benefiting from the new e-coaching competencies of their teachers and having the potential to set up their own business. The sustainability of E-DECO is ensured with the shared vision that other 100 VET-teachers will be trained to use E-DECO tools during the next two years after the project has ended. Besides of the trained VET-teachers tangible outcome is the training material and tools to be developed. Intangible outcome is the increased understanding of e-coaching as a teachers new competencies to foster entrepreneurship among their students. E-DECO will have a significant impact of VET teachers new competencies as well as on increased entrepreneurship among VET students.
The outcome of the project is the increased skills and competences on new and innovative teaching methodologies of the target group. The long term impact is reached by adapting the practices developed and transferred by E-DECO as normal offering and routines of the participating organizations and organizations within their impact area.
