Title Health, Safety and Environmental Training for Welding Personnel
Project Number 2012-1-RO01-LEO05-21048
Project Type Transfer of Innovation
The course addresses to the technical personnel in welding field regardless of gender. Although the welding is an activity field mainly performed by men, more then 7 % from the welders all over the world are women. The course will promote the presence and involvement of women in this project under different aspects.
The dissemination activities as well as the training workshops will represent opportunities for an external evaluation of the quality and impact of the project. The feedback and comments received during these activities will allow implementing backup strategies whenever relevant, making sure that the needs of the target groups and users are being addressed.
Summary The overall aim of the WELD TRAIN project is to harmonize training and qualification of technical personnel (managers, engineers, technicians and foremen) with responsibilities in fields like environment, health and safety management in welding.
At present the production of welded structures is continuously increasing, having a large number of companies operating on European level, in this market. Also, the welding process besides beeing cataloged in the quality standards as a special process, generates a lot of issues regarding the variety of factors which might have negative impacts upon the environment and occupational health and safety.
The reasoning for presenting this proposal is based on the special importance laid on European and International level upon the environment protection and occupational health and safety.
The main goals of the project refer to the harmonized training and qualification of technical personnel (managers,engineers, technicians, foremen) with responsibilities in fields like environment, health and safety management in welding.

the main aims of the project are:
1. Development of professional competence for personnel with responsibility in environment, health and safety management in welding by training and education in a European harmonized system;
2. Proving the professional competence of personnel by using an uniform examination system followed by qualification and issue of a diploma.
Additionally, the results of the WELD TRAIN project will in time be expected to be available further than the partner countries by disseminating and valorising these findings at national level and to all European countries members in EWF network.
