Diese Situation ist aufgrund des Fehlens der praktischen Ausbildung der Lehrer, weil ihre Bildungsprogramme an der Universität oder Berufsbildungsebenen enthalten keine praktische Vision der integrierten Entwicklung des Kindes. In der Folge haben diese Kinder mit besonderen Bedürfnissen nicht besondere Aufmerksamkeit erhalten, bis sie älter als 3 Jahre sind. MATE Projekt wird versuchen, Lösungen und Support-Profis mit neuen Tools zu finden.
Most of children disorders were detected very late and they did not receive special attention till they were older than three. However, since it is vital that signs of learning disabilities are recognised as early as possible, so that parents can help their children reach their highest potencial. In those cases, the role of teachers is a key point in the child development. Therefore, they should be able to detect the problems as early as possible. In most EU countries, initial teacher education for early childhood education takes place at a VET level and the European studies establish that the basic education students receive in special needs education is often too general, vague or insufficient, and for this reason they do not have enough competences and skills.
Regarding this need, the general aim of MATE project achieved the transfer of practical tools tested for teachers at University levels, to use them with VET Early Childhood Education teachers and so it increased their skills related to child development early detection of disorders.
MATE project brought together a team of high-level experts with very extensive experience in the area of VET early childhood education with experts in child development. There were five partners from three different countries; and the consortium members were drawn from different parts of Europe with similar problems. We were two partners from Spain (P0 - expert in child development and improving skills of teachers at University levels, and, P4 - a public VET school to develop the pilot experience and to transfer the results to the education regional authority to which it belonged), two partners in Turkey (P2 - provincial educational directorate with some expertise in a similar project developed in the last years, and, P3 - the education regional authority to transfer the results to the public VET system), and one partner in Italy (P1 - VET early childhood teachers who were working in kindergardens).
The main outcomes consisted on a European comparative study on 'Early childhood education teachers in Europe and their resources to work with children with disorders', a practical digital course for VET early childhood teachers, and a MATE forum where all the VET early childhood teachers have access to be in contact with experts in child development and other VET teachers. These outcomes are always in English to facilitate free access to Internet to all European VET early childhood teachers; the course is available in four languages.
In relation to the direct scope of MATE consortium, the expectations have reached at least 569 teachers and 368 different schools, moreover, they will be the 100% of VET schools and teachers in each region, and moving to a national level, in other regions of the same country, at least a 50% in the framework of the project dissemination activities. Apart from that, it was spread to other countries in the UE, USA and Latin America.
Contributions from all partners led to the conclusion of the European Study on childhood education in each of the participant countries.
International and local meetings throughout the last 2 years have made possible the contrast and validation of the AnPPi tool (not planned at the beginning, although it was the kick-off for the Training Platform)
During the Kick-off meeting, the experts on early childhood education from Italy and Turkey were also discussing about the specificities of this tool, and the difficulties to use it with their children. It was a fruitful discussion because some necessary changes were done and Project contents were updated.
WP2. Training for trainers of VET early childhood education.
First action of this WP -A3. Development of the digital course was very valuable and appreciated by participants and it is a part of the Platform for training named Scolartic Educacion Telefónica Digital-MOOC (already launched and starting in September, 2015). This AnPPi (Ansaldo-Puga-Pisón) training tool is based on the developmental milestones from 6 to 36 months, in order to assess through established indicators the children responses to different stimulations in the educational context of kindergarden and schools.
To achieve this development, P0 and P4 collaborated with different training teams and managers of these schools, with early intervention teams and also ICT experts from Universities in Madrid (Complutense and Politecnica) in order to plan the engineering of the tool.
In parallel, P0 and P4 staff also made some arrangements in order to spread the tool and pave the way to achieve the official certificate for the training material once it is finished and proved. These meetings were done with Comunidad de Madrid (Sub. Gral de Formacion del profesorado), Centros de Formacion de profesores CRIF y CTIF, Ministerio de Educacion (Instituto de evaluación, Instituto de tecnologias educativas, etc.).
WP3. Dissemination of the project and its results
The Kick-off meeting (A8 - Result no. 8) was successfully developed with a high interest of education regional government authorities and also directors from different kindergarden.
MATE website is already finished and it is published under the following addresses (each one related to different products in the Project):
WP1 is finished, so it is widely spread it among the partners, with all the documentation and records from activities, courses, seminars, meetings, lectures, brochures, on-line activities and newsletters, events, etc.
FINAL CONCLUSION: All the partners have participated with much interest and enthusiasm throughout the process of making this Project. The final result has
been very successful, surpassing all the foreseen expectations.
The AnPPi tool will be applied in Infant and Pre-Schools. The FORUM, the COURSE and the PLATFORM are active and in continuous evolution.
