Title ArAc- Multibook of Architectural Acoustics
Project Number 2013-1-PL1-LEO05-37588
Project Type Transfer of Innovation
Marketing Text The main purpose of the multibook (an interactive publication) is to fill the gap in the technical literature innovatively. The Multibook is the first such acoustics manual for architects. The user has mobile access to information anytime, anywhere. In all partners’ countries the project demonstrates an innovative approach to education and professional development of architects in the area of acoustics.
Professional books on architectural acoustics are aimed chiefly at readers with mathematical or technical background, usually graduates of electronics or physics faculties. Such studies have only a limited usefulness to architects, who intend not to study architectural acoustics as a separate area of knowledge, but to search for an inspiration regarding acoustically correct architectural solutions.
The materials included in the multibook are to help architects in correct and unassisted solving of common and unsophisticated noise protection and interior acoustics problems. This type of knowledge is most useful in conceptual design works related to architectural acoustics, as well as in mutual understanding of different priorities that architects and acoustician working together may have.
The analysis which lies at the root of the project shows the acoustic gap in recent architecture education program across European Universities. In order to narrow the differences between theoretical knowledge and practice experience with lifelong learning opportunities KFB Polska have come up with the idea to develop in interactive tool in theme of Architectural Acoustics.
The ArAc Project objective is to develop an innovative vocational e-learning and m-learning tool to support architects in acquisition of acoustic key competences. Upgrading the quality of professional trainings and knowledge in field of acoustics is crucial in facing architectural challenges of daily work.
The partnership consists of experienced teams from organizations representing several European countries. Each partner bring their own background, knowledge and experience in the partnership, enabling the project to come to a successful end as well as produce great products. Partners possess skills in the area of architecture and acoustics education, e-learning, ICT.
The partnership comprises all types of institutions essentially involved in:
- developing vocational education materials on Architecture Guidelines,
- developing vocational education materials on Acoustics Guidelines,
- creating vocational education materials based on methodology and experience of Architect-Acoustician Cooperation,
- exploiting Innovative Acoustics Measurements,
- compiling and adapting knowledge of Architectural Acoustics into content of the book,
- testing the target group,
- transforming vocational education materials into Multibook.
The multilateral cooperation and the comparison of country specific outcomes gained within the project ArAc gives this topic a high valuable European character.

The project is a response to the needs of the modern information society. Architects are demanding when it comes to the quality and manner of presenting information. The means of deepening and developing of knowledge and expanding of education are transferred into the virtual world, wherein a printed book is replaced by mobile carriers of data. This is the futuristic way of education, a new method of educating the society.
The outcomes of the project are application of acoustic architectural multibook available on website, tablets and smartphones (both for iOS and Android).
