The 2011 European Energy Efficiency Action Plan calls for the reduction of energy consumption of currently existing buildings by 50 - 75% by 2020. In addition, the Guidelines on the Energy Performance of Buildings, Directive 2010/31/EU includes a new mandatory category of nearly zero energy buildings in building projects from 2020, resulting in a new challenge for planners and professionals in the construction industry.
In all European member states, the European Commission launches projects designed to ensure the optimum level of specialist training for the implementation of energy efficiency in renovation and new construction. Through this initiative, the know-how of craftsmen, builders and installers will be improved through specific training concepts.
The chapters detail the state of the art in the partner countries of the CertCraft project - Austria, Romania, Switzerland and Hungary - illustrated with the same focal points.
