Marketing Text In order to improve the professional education of those active in the building industry and to expand the potential of SMEs, the qualification “European Projects in the Construction Sector” was developed as a part of ConstructEU. The course is intended for managerial and executive staff who want to undertake further training on transnational European project work. The qualification was successfully certified in Hungary and Germany.
The cooperative development of a curriculum for the qualification “European Projects in the Construction Sector” stood at the centre of the project “ConstructEU – Building up skills for successful European Projects in the Construction Sector”.
The curriculum is made up of three parts. The first part contains a description of the qualification with reference to target groups, entry requirements, qualification goals and educational objectives (compliant with EQF). It also describes the course’s methodology, as well as attendance duration, recognition and certification.
The second part introduces the topic content of the qualification in the light of the educational objectives that are to be reached. The third section covers the general organizational framework. In addition to this, two competence assessment questionnaires have been developed to evaluate how individual understanding and knowledge have progressed. These questionnaires are likewise introduced in the course concept.
The qualification consists of seven thematic fields:
• Block 1: First steps in the Jungle of European Funding for the Construction Sector
• Block 2: Relevant EU Programmes for the Construction Sector
• Block 3: Project Elaboration
• Block 4: Application Procedure in EU Projects
• Block 5: Calculation of Budget Estimates
• Block 6: EU Project Management and Institutional Readiness for the Construction Sector
• Block 7: Financial Management
The qualification “European Projects in the Construction Sector” has been designed in accordance with the Blended Learning concept so that trainees are able to participate whilst remaining in employment. The training is made up of attendance days and online learning days. The attendance days take place for all participants in plenary. The online days offer flexibility: the participants can work on the online learning platform from their office or from their desk at home.
The interactive manual for trainers “Seminars on EU projects in the Construction Sector” is a complementary resource designed to build on the course concept and meet the needs of potential trainers in the partnering countries. The handbook shows adult and occupational trainers tried and tested methods for group work. A particular emphasis is laid on methods for the transfer of knowledge in the area of European project work.
Furthermore, partners produced together a “Memorandum of Understanding” for the qualification “European Projects in the Construction Sector”. Project partners hereby confirmed that the qualification would be implemented in accordance with the mutually developed quality and participatory criteria even after the end of the project. Moreover, the training course was successfully certified in Germany and Hungary during the course of the project.
Target group Managerial and executive staffs active in the construction industry in the broadest sense who want to undertake further training in transnational European project work. These are for example people active in the construction industry, architects or urbanists. What is more, the qualification is also intended for people looking for a career change who expect new challenges or a new field activity. Specific entry requirements such as a university degree or a good English level are requested.
