Title One teacher and one student working with Projectx
Project Number 2013-1-ES-LEO05-66485
Project Type Transfer of Innovation
Marketing Text We wanted to bring closer the needs of the companies to schools and, on the other hand, to improve the pedagogical methodology –the way of teaching at schools– allowing teachers to pay attention to each singular student, and concerning about their own personal learning rhythms.
The Dual System of Vocational Training is mostly seen as one of the most effective vocational educational systems because students are trained according to the real needs of the Companies; unfortunately this System is not implemented in all European countries. In addition, in those countries the pedagogical methodology used is still giving “master classes”: one teacher to many students; with the aggravating factor that the curricula of the subjects were designed a long time ago and are distant from the needs and current technologies used in companies. As a result of this situation, young students lack in skills and competences for making them ready to enter the labour market.
The aim of this project was twofold: on one hand we wanted to bring the needs of the companies closer to schools and, on the other hand, to improve the pedagogical methodology –the way of teaching at schools– allowing teachers to pay attention to each singular student, and concerning about their own personal learning rhythms.
The instrument we used to make real this purpose was what we called the “ProjectX”, a methodological guide for the student to carry out a concrete activity, one to one with the teacher, in which theory and practice are both perfectly integrated and it is related to the real workplace. Each ProjectX was developed on the basis of Learning Outcomes, which meant we also created a tool based in the ECVET credit system that allowed mobility of students between the participating institutions. In this way we were aligned with the European Strategy 2020 which boosts the mobility of students and teachers in a high grade of quality.
In this project Xabec (Vocational education centre) transferred a methodology to work by projects in the classroom allowing the teacher to work in a personalised way with each student. Each partner developed at least 3 projects and tested one of them in the classroom.
The activities undertaken by partners included:
-Three international meetings:
Kuopio, Pitesti and Lisbon.
- Research and analysis:
Partners studied the Finnish VET system as it is one of the most effective in Europe due to its flexiblity and the strenth of the relationship between education and the labour market.
Partners also studied and analysed VET systems of other participant countries. Partners focused on how their systems produce the qualifications, the relationship with the labour market, validation and recognition process towards the mobility of students.
- Developing of the Methodology:
This activity consisted in the transfer, adapatation and improvement of the original methodology to develop practical projects in the classroom based on real situations that happen in the work place.
-Building the catalogue of ProjectX:
Partners developed the catalogue of practical projects following the methodology proposed in the previous step.
The catalogue was finished by the end of year 2014.
Partners organised and promoted several local, regional and international dissemination activities.
Our project was proposed by the Spanish National Agency to participate in the European Monitoring Conference "Work-based Learning" held in Brussels in February 2014
Quality management was vital in order to accomplish the project objectives within the budget and with high quality.
Four quality reports were written.
Recognition, transparency, certification
Electricity, Gas, Steam and Air Conditioning Supply
Interested people could find the main results achieved on the project website
