Title European Education for Electro-mobility
Project Number 2013-1-NL1-LEO05-12228
Project Type Transfer of Innovation
Marketing Text The greenhouse effect, caused by the imbalance of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, has been largely caused by the burning of fossil fuels - from cars to power stations to aeroplanes - that create carbon emissions (CO2). The main outcome of the greenhouse effect is an overall rise in the earth's temperature causing melting ice-caps, rising sea-levels, extreme weather conditions and a changing eco-system. 25% of all carbon emissions can be allocated to activities of the transport and motor vehicle sector. In order to ensure sustainable mobility, changes in automotive technology are necessary.
Automotive manufacturers are rapidly developing new – more environmentally friendly – technology. This results in a significant grow in the number of electrically propelled vehicles on the European market. The technology used in these cars is new for the sector and causes discrepancies in skills of workers and skills needed to work on these vehicles.
Currently there is insufficient training and education material available in the field of safe maintenance, repair and diagnosis of electrically propelled vehicles in order to prepare the current and future automotive technicians (our VET students) for this new technology.
Aims and objectives
• to develop an effective, turn-key training package for electrically propelled vehicles;
• to train 100 automotive technicians EQF level 4 VET students and 10 VET teachers who are able to teach this package;
• to increase the capacity of high quality training provisions;
• to facilitate and stimulate growth in green motor vehicle usage throughout the European Union;
• to develop a European Reference Profile for Servicing Electrically Propelled Vehicles (ERP-SEPV).
• automotive technicians;
• VET organisations.

open and distance learning
The project supports implementing and further development of a successfull UK training method to promote the innovative delivering of the curriculum by the various partners. To support new training methods for new technology knowledge and skills in VET institutes and companies in the European Union. This training package will also include a European Reference Profile regarding Service of Electrically Propelled Vehicles in terms of Units of Learning Outcomes as desired by the companies of the stakeholders. This will stimulate international exhange (mobility) of European automotive VET students.
Consultation with automotive stakeholders from each European partner country at all stages of the development, delivery and evaluation of the agreed project outcomes, will establish a series of best practices from partners by participation in this project and through the direct provision of feedback by their representatives, thus determining the shape models of best practices to suit each partner organisation/country.
