The Tulip project is based on the Leonardo-I project WoCoCom and on projects that use Tandem methods and employ new technologies. The project works on a didactic framework for the acquisition of two languages at the same time. One language taking the more active part (speaking, listening, reading, writing), the other taking the more receptive part (listening and reading). Based on this framework, the project develops a multimedia course that offers to learn the selected languages without committing themselves to regular courses. A new feature is the parallel training of two languages.
A central goal of the project is the promotion of multilingualness (in particular receptive skills) so that "understanding each other" is not dependent on the Lingua Franca English. Thus, the project makes a contribution to the preservation of language variety in Europe.
