Marketing Text A comparative analysis of the targeted countries/organisations and their local sectoral and training context.
Description Within the context of transferring and/or adapting the Transferable Skills Toolkit for Trainers, the purpose of the Comparative Study was carried out as a general attempt to broaden perspectives of those who are involved in making decisions and influencing change within their own organisation. In particular, the Study revealed the underlying defining cultural/historic determinants that have shaped how the organisation defines transferable skills, and to what extent these are currently embedded within current learning opportunities.
Target group Initially the Partners, but then Managers, trainers, support workers, teachers, learners, local stakeholders and organisations, policy bodies working in skills development and learning and all those working with disaffected young people.
Area of application The 'usefulness' of the Comparative Study has been that it has given the partnership a "context" in which to see their own VET methodology/ethos. It has brought out the underlying principles, and not just methods and techniques, which has been essential to charting the pathway for transferring the toolkit. In presenting the Comparative Study, partners have gained a better understanding of what transferable skills modules should be pilot-tested, based on commonalities between the partners. Also, why now, more than ever, transferable skills are some of the essential elements for improving the life chances of young people, across Europe.
