Marketing Text Application of i-Lab in the educational process shall contribute to generation of new methods of work with a student and it shall affect the way of organising educational activities.
Description In the literature on the subject, a teaching method is defined as the ways of teacher’s operation, aiming at introduction of changes in students’ knowledge or skills, controlling them. In the completed project, i-Lab was applied for the first time within the scope of vocational education. Technologies, ways of moderation and environment applied in an i-Lab, in the light of the above-mentioned definition, create a new, innovative teaching method. As compared with traditional methods, it activates all the session participants to joint action. Use of the software ensuring anonymity enables to minimise the communication barriers experienced by persons socially withdrawn and of low self-esteem. The lab environment impacts stimulation of imagination and search for non-standard solutions of posed issues, enables to use computers on theoretical classes, thus involving in action to a greater degree, and is positively perceived by the session participants. Experience from sessions organised under the project shows that specific, interesting outcomes were managed to be developed in a relatively short time. It would be impossible with use of traditional methods, or would require more time and work.
Target group VET teachers, trainers and VET institution managers, potential i-Lab users.
Result The project’s innovation was constituted by the use of a laboratory in a new, previously non-applied area of vocational education. It was assumed that innovation laboratories should contribute to the improved quality of vocational education. New, appropriately selected teaching methods have a significant impact on the quality of education, apart from many other, above-mentioned factors. New teaching methods, available due to the launch of innovation laboratories, contribute to the improved quality of vocational education. From this point of view, the possibility of using new teaching methods in vocational education is very important, as it corresponds with priorities concerned by the project.
Area of application Innovative methods of training and education shall constitute an inspiration and a sample of i-Lab use in development of the quality of vocational education.
