Marketing Text The main tasks of a moderator (facilitator) of sessions realised in an i-Lab include planning and preparation of a session in a way to ensure the optimum use of resources available in an i-Lab, execution of sessions using available supporting techniques, reporting. The moderator shall understand the i-Lab concept and know the capacity of use of the i-Lab environment, capacity of use of the specialised software and available elements of technology. Qualified facilitators staff was necessary for the further stages of the project implementation, when i-Labs were introduced to the vocational education practice, but also for the functioning of an i-Lab in an organisation’s structure.
A training course on planning, preparation and moderation of the i-Lab session, as well as on administration and operation of the VBS software, was organised for the partner institutions’ representatives. 16 people attended the training course (three from Poland, three from Slovenia, two from Germany, one from Greece and seven from Romania). The training course was conducted by the facilitators from the Institute for Sustainable Technologies – National Research Institute in Radom. It was organised by the P0 Project Leader and P5 partner (University of Galati). It took place in Romania from 24 to 25 September 2013. A set of teaching materials containing i-Lab Facilitation Training – Guide for Trainers and VBS – Virtual BrainStorm – Software Instruction Manual was prepared for the purposes of the training course. Electronic and printed versions of the materials were given to the training participants.
An element of the workshops organised as a part of the project included study visits in the Innovation Laboratories, during which the facilitators taking part in the training course prepared and conducted sessions for the partner institutions’ representatives. Those sessions were aimed at improving the skills acquired during the training course.
Target group VET teachers, trainers and VET institution managers
Result As a result of described activities, selected employees of partner institutions shall enhance their knowledge and skills concerning moderation of the i-Lab session. They shall use these skills during conducting demonstrative and pilot sessions. After the project completion, they shall use them within the scope of i-Lab use in education and management.
