The recent economic crisis is unprecedented in our generation. The constant progress in economic growth and job creation recorded during the last decade has disappeared in most EU countries.
According to Agenda 2020, one of the pillars for the future of the EU is based on the creation of inclusive growth, which is building an economy with a high level of employment that result in economic, social and territorial cohesion. One of the flagship initiatives of the European Commission regarding this issue is called "Youth in motion". This initiative is that by promoting the mobility of students and trainees, and the results reinforce the international attractiveness. Mobility, an underlying principle of the EU, can have a number of potential benefits for the economy, society and the individual citizen. Employment or occupational mobility (i.e. mobility between jobs) and geographical mobility (i.e. between Member states and/or regions) can enhance economic competitiveness; potentially reducing the mismatch in supply and demand for labour across sectors and regions of Europe thus increasing the flexibility and adaptability of the labour market. However, mobility in Europe is quite limited (Eurobarometer, 2006). There are a number of reasons for this, including, lack of relevant skills, language, recognition of qualifications in different member states, access to health care, fragmentation of information and lack of transparency of job opportunities, finding a job for a spouse / partner, and a “weak mobility culture” (Eurobarometer, 2006).
INTERJOB4YOUTH is a project to promote the improvement of the labor market and to increase employability of those seeking employment outside their home country, encouraging mobility of workers, promoting integration. Through this project has succeeded in giving individualized service to the population intended to facilitate their incorporation into the labor market, as well as to help enterprises improve their competitiveness.
This project is a strategy to enhance employment mobility through an online job search services across Europe. The project have the potential to increase the efficiency of the job market by increasing the number and quality of matches between employers and job seekers. Furthermore other reason why it is a good project is the possibility for technological innovation in this sector. The Web 2.0 provide major possibilities for overcoming barriers to recruitment and job-seeking on-line. Examples include the growing number of business orientated social networking sites based on social networks (such as LinkedIn) that enable employers to advertise jobs and search for appropriate applicants, whilst job seekers can find out about those who are hiring and identify existing contacts who may be able to introduce them to the employer they are interested in.
The project was designed to support mobility within European participating countries´ labour markets by enhancing information and transparency about working and living in another country and providing information about the obstacles to increasing geographical and occupational mobility in Europe.
