Innovation processes are related to the work done in order to achieve a number of objectives, within the restriction of a specific time limit and a given cost and are a critical factor for the success of any organization.
The main objective of the INNOVATRAIN TRANSFER project is to provide solutions for an advanced innovation process management and facilitated innovation introduction in SMEs belonging to the manufacturing sector. In order to achieve such an objective, the course developed during the project provides trainees with a global and systematized approach to both concepts. The course helps professionals in implementation of an Innovation Management System within their own organizations, covering all process from the concept phase to the analysis of the impact.
The main objective of the project was to provide a means for an advanced innovation process management and facilitated innovation introduction in SMEs belonging to the manufacturing sector.
The main objective of the training developed within the project is to increase SME innovation through the implementation of practices supporting process of introducing of innovation in the company. Training curriculum includes content related to the acquisition of new ideas and knowledge to improve the enterprise, the development of its products, stimulating industrial innovation, customer interaction, shared use of knowledge and innovation process management methods.
To realize project goals INNOVATRAIN TRANSFER project aimed to transfer and adapt the existing results from a successful projects INNOVATRAIN and AIM.
INNOVATRAIN was a successful project implemented in different regions all around Spain. The main objective was to push and improve the innovation and internationalisation processes of local SMEs belonging to the manufacturing sector. In order to do that, INNOVATRAIN created its own method combining online training and technical R&D support as two key elements in the way of SMEs to the international markets.
The project AIM - Acceleration of Innovative Ideas to Market goal was the development of a system to support the collection of innovative ideas and relevant knowledge throughout the extended enterprise for new and existing process and product developments, and to develop these ideas and knowledge into a means of fostering industrial innovations.
Partners enriched transferred INNOVATRAIN methodology through elaboration of new learning bilingual scenarios including classical training, blended training, distant training. New ICT features including web 2.0 possibilities for increasing effectivity of learning through contact between pupils, teachers and consultants, not only during course. After the end of training participants shall be able to collaborate as users of developed ICT platform and share knowledge and experiences with a mutual benefit to the whole sector.
The project was realized by partnership containing institutions from different countries. Project partners have required expertise and knowledge for innovative results transfer from participation in several “Transfer of innovation” and research projects. A consortium consisted of 4 partners:

The outcome of the project is an advanced solution for creating learning content and performing training courses dealing with innovation management in a new way particularly fitting the SMEs needs and conditions. It shall increase level of innovativeness of SMEs and finally result for them in a significantly higher competitiveness on the market. Concerning the innovative training system it is expected that its learning outcome will be significantly higher because of a new approach and learner motivation mechanisms, what will also have a high impact to the general education level and to the e-learning systems market. A set of project results is now available for the target audience.
Project results available at the end of the project:
- A set of templates for data gathering and analysis containing of survey and a structured interview was prepared during the initial stage of the project. It is available in English and all partner languages.
- Full set of lessons on General Innovation and on Introduction of the Innovation Standard, exemplified on the Spanish standard UNE 166000:2006 – Research, Development and Innovation (R&D&i) Management.
- Training Methodology consisting of guidelines for INNOVATRAIN TRANSFER system utilization, establishment, administration and further evaluation. It includes detailed description of methods for adaptation and creation of course content as well as organisation and execution of the course prepared especially for future trainers and consultants working within the course. Full Methodology is available for trainers and consultants implementing the course.
- Adapted ICT platform which enables user friendly navigation through the logically structured content and includes videos illustrating specific phases along the innovation process.
